Havelock Island, commonly known as Swaraj Dweep, is a haven for those enamored with sun, sand, and sea. This picturesque island offers all the elements necessary for crafting an
unforgettable holiday experience. Situated approximately 61 kilometres (38 miles) from Port Blair, Swaraj Dweep boasts stunning white sandy beaches and vibrant coral reefs that encircle its shores. As the focal point of tourism in the Andamans, Havelock Island stands as an undisputed paradise of the region’s seas. Fortunately for us, we are privileged to call it home.
The best time to visit Swaraj Dweep (Havelock Island) is between October and May as the weather is pleasant, just perfect for sightseeing, water sports, and beach excursion.
Monsoon (June to September) results in suspension of most water sports activities due to heavy rains and strong winds. If you are looking for a lazy relaxed holiday with less crowd and great deals, opt to visit during monsoon.
Getting to Havelock requires first getting to Port Blair and then taking a ferry. There are several ferries plying between Port Blair and Havelock Island. Those operated by the local administration takes about 2 hours to get you across.
Government ferry tickets can only be purchased on the spot at actual sailing date. We recommend ferries by private operators, such as Makruzz or Green Ocean These are more reliable as tickets can be purchased in advance and the total sailing time is only 90 minutes.
Port Blair is the capital city of the Andamans and the most convenient and quickest way to get here is to fly. Air India, Spice Jet, Indigo Airlines and Vistara are some of the airlines that have daily flights into Port Blair from a few major cities across India.
For booking tickets, current flight schedules, fares and baggage allowances, please see the airline website.
